Diocese of Latin America
A Spanish-Speaking Diocese of Accompaniment, Dialogue, and Apostolic Mission
The Diocese of Latin America is a Spanish-speaking jurisdiction of the Old Catholic Churches International serving Mexico and Argentina through a pastoral life rooted in accompaniment, evangelization, ecclesial dialogue, and the strengthening of local communities of faith.
Open to all without exception.
The Life of the Diocese
The Diocese of Latin America serves as an ecclesial presence for Spanish-speaking communities within the life of the Old Catholic Churches International. Its purpose is apostolic and pastoral: to proclaim the Gospel, strengthen the faithful, accompany those in search of spiritual care, and build bridges of dialogue across the Church and society.
Formerly organized as a vicariate general, the Diocese now carries a broader responsibility of coverage, coordination, and effectiveness in its apostolic mission. That work is expressed not only through formal ecclesial structures, but also through a network of oratories, centers for spiritual accompaniment, and initiatives of formation, listening, and outreach.
The Pastoral Work of the Diocese
Ecclesiastical Provinces
The pastoral administration of the Diocese is carried out through ecclesiastical provinces that presently comprise its life and mission, allowing the Church to serve communities with greater local presence and pastoral coordination.
Oratories and Accompaniment Centers
The Diocese extends its apostolic and pastoral project through oratories and centers for spiritual accompaniment, providing places of prayer, listening, discernment, and ecclesial care.
Dialogue and Outreach
The Diocese seeks to be an ecclesial institution of encounter, fostering dialogue, welcome, and outreach to all without exception, especially those seeking accompaniment, reconciliation, or a renewed life of faith.
A Diocese Ordered to Mission and Presence
The Diocese of Latin America is not defined only by geography, but by a pastoral method: presence, accompaniment, discernment, and communion. It exists to make the Church present where people are, especially through accessible centers of prayer, pastoral care, and conversation.
In this way, the Diocese seeks to respond effectively to the needs of its people across Mexico and Argentina, while continuing to grow in unity, structure, and apostolic clarity.
The Diocese of Latin America exists to accompany, to proclaim, to serve, and to open paths of ecclesial life and pastoral care wherever people seek the mercy and truth of Christ.
Institutions of Formation and Dialogue
Among its ongoing works, the Diocese maintains its Old Catholic Information Center and the Ecumenical Observatory. These ministries help position the Diocese as a place of serious ecclesial reflection, dialogue, and public engagement.
Together, they support the broader diocesan mission by encouraging informed faith, ecumenical openness, and sustained outreach to people across different backgrounds, questions, and experiences.
The Episcopal Curia
The present headquarters of the Latin American Episcopal Curia is located in Argentina at the Oratory and Center for Spiritual Accompaniment The Holy Name. This center serves as a visible point of diocesan coordination, pastoral life, and ecclesial presence.
As the Diocese develops its fuller life and structure, the Curia stands as a sign of stability, mission, and pastoral direction for the work entrusted to the Church in Latin America.
